Display gardens
The annual GardenScape show features approximately 20 gardens constructed within the Dome Center. The displays feature the latest in landscaping techniques and the results of designers' creativity. Each garden is required to incorporate flowering material, and the show draws upon thosands of plants forced into blossom during show time. In addition to the plants, exhibits incorporate stonework, water features, metalwork, art and structures.
Gardens reflect the plants and methods directly applicable to Northeast climates. The designs also must respond to a theme announced for each show. Design firms show their approach to the theme with an imaginative mix of beauty, color, textures and functionality. Display gardens are judged just hours before the public views the show, and awards are given in categories such as Best Use of Forced Plants, Best Integration of Fragrant Plants, Most Entertaining Garden. Such competition among the region's designers adds to the ingenuity and boldness seen in GardenScape's display gardens.
Months of planning allow each exhibiting organization to go from a blank floor space to a completed design garden in less than 3 days of construction time. Just imagine what these professionals can deliver for your landscape needs! Past exhibits have included a 180 foot, 33,000 gallon lake, and a flowing 8 foot tall waterfall.
As a visitor to GardenScape, you'll walk through the beautiful and surprising display gardens, and pick up great ideas in plant selection and backyard projects.
